Q: How do you
turn this stupid thing off?
Q: Does the intro of pocket SamTimer mean
the end of the original SamTimer?
Q: I am ready to start a game. The
clock has digits other than 25:00! How do I reset?
Q: Why are there 4 batteries? I thought this only takes 2 AA
batteries.
Q: What can the pocket SamTimer do?
Q: Tell me more about batteries and
the reset button.
Q: How do you turn this stupid thing
off?
A: The clock stays on at all times. This is a great convenience,
especially for older players. When the game is not played, and
the digits are not moving, there is no appreciable battery drain.
Think of your wrist watch digital displays!

Q: Does the intro of pocket SamTimer mean
the end of the original SamTimer?
A: Hardly. The original SamTimer has been the best-seller since
early 1990’s, and has no signs of slowing down! Which of
the two clocks you buy depends on your pocket book.
(That’s one of the reasons we named this the pocket SamTimer!)
However, the new pocket SamTimer does have some cool features,
so many loyal SamTimer owners have also grabbed their own new pocket SamTimer s!
Q: : I am ready to start a game.
The clock has digits other than 25:00! How do I reset?
A: Press STOP button 5 times. Or press the tiny black reset
button on the bottom of clock.
Q: Why are there 4 batteries?
I thought this only takes 2 AA batteries.
A: True. But we gave you 2 spare batteries for free (aren’t
we nice?) so you don’t have to run to a store in the middle
of the tournament to replace batteries when the display starts
to dim, indicating low battery power remaining. Since we have eliminated
LED’s, the batteries should last a long time. Make sure and
select Alkaline batteries or the new Energizer e 2 batteries.
Some of pocket SamTimer useful
features include:
- Extremely easy battery installation and replacement
- Batteries pre-installed: 2 AA (plus storage space inside the
clock for 2 spare AA batteries.)
- 20 second "hold" time indicator
- One minute courtesy tile draw period indicator
- Various chess modes, School SCRABBLE® setting
- Fully programmable for various start times
- Can program left dial and right dial differently (for handicap
games)
- Large easy to use player buttons
- Handles SCRABBLE® overtime beautifully! Just like the SamTimer ™.
It even beeps mildly at the start of overtime.
Q: Tell
me more about batteries and the reset button.
By the way, ATTENTION owners of the PST: there is this tiny black
recessed RESET button on the bottom of the clock. Press it once
every few weeks, or before a tournament. The PST does not have
an on-off switch. Hardly any power consumption due to the display
being always on (think digital watches!). This gives you a much
longer battery life.
The pocket SamTimer has a clever easy-remove battery compartment
which stores spare batteries too! Both the installed and spare
long-life alkaline batteries come free with each pocket SamTimer!
Also, the elimination of an on-off switch in all the SamTimer models
has helped in even better reliability. Smaller number of moving
parts.
Instead of sliding an absent on-off switch everyday (we eliminated
it as it can drain the batteries), we ask that you press this tiny
reset button on the bottom of the PST once every few days.
Fair? Use this handy little design feature!
Please do not remove the batteries everyday just because it is
so very easy to do so :
1 you might break the springs if you do this 30 times/month!
2 there is no need, no power is saved. Leave the batteries IN.
Always.
